A Quick Word About Quality
We would always recommend that you obtain samples. This way you can check the quality of ceiling panels before you buy them.
You will get to see the quality of the product in your hand. The thickness of the PVC used in the panels can vary. As can the make-up of the plastic.
When we are talking about the thickness of the PVC we a referring to the gauge of the plastic itself. Not the overall thickness of the panels.
Thicker gauges will be more robust in nature and will feel heavier when handled. There are large, very heavy duty panels available that are designed to be used in showers. These are not really designed for use on ceilings. They are hard to work with overhead and would require a lot of adhesive.
Thinner gauges will be lighter and easier to work with but will be less robust. You might also be able to see the ribbing more readily. In general though this is not a problem once the panels are installed.
Panel manufacturers use different grades of PVC in the their products. Plasticiser is added to the mix to make the product softer and more flexible. Panels with lower levels of plasticiser will be stiffer and feel more solid. But they will also be more brittle.
The gauge and flexibility of panels is less of any issue when they are used on ceilings. Once they are up and fitted they tend to be out of harms way.
Most PVC ceiling panels have a Class 1 Fire Rating. This means they should self extinguish and not spread any flames. But check with individual manufacturers to ensure they have been certified.
Panelling Designs
Ceiling panels can be bought in a variety of designs.
The most popular (and the most common) are plain white finishes.
People usually expect ceiling to be some sort of plain white. So by fitting panels in this finish you are not drawing attention to the ceiling. White finishes are available in matt or gloss. Longer lengths are available for larger rooms. This means you can span the whole ceiling without any end-on-end joins.
Other white panels are designed to make a feature of your ceiling. Wood-grain effect panels add a little bit of design into the mix. But they are still quite restrained. Panels with a chrome strip will certainly be noticed and will catch the eye.
It is all down to personal taste and what design you think suits the room best. So you can make a feature of your ceiling. Or you might just want it to fade into the background.

Ceiling Panel Installation
Quick, clean with little or no preparation needed. Ceiling panels can be installed by any competent DIYer or tradesman.
Simply measure, cut and fix. It is possible to install them over existing finishes. Fit them over texturing compound or wooden cladding. They are ideal for freshening up a tired old ceiling. And remember that once they are installed, there will be no maintenance, no painting and no mould.
There are different methods used for ceiling panel installation. But all are quick and easy. Usually they can be stapled or screwed in place. Or you could also stick them with an adhesive. Many fitters use a combination of adhesive and staples.

Panels Can Be Used All Around The Home
Ceiling panels do not have to be restricted to use in the bathroom. They are ideal for use all around the home.
Kitchens are the next most obvious area to fit panels. They are waterproof, easy to clean with a wipe-over surface. Ideally suited to the steamy conditions found in most kitchens.
There are several matt finish panels which lend themselves to use in living areas. Matt white panels are a perfect substitute for a painted plaster ceiling. But without the need to re-paint every couple of years.
